What style of contemporary gas fire/fire Place will look nice here?
Comments (5)I personally do not like TVs over a fireplace. I know it’s very popular but they are not good for watching TV as they are too high and can cause neck pain and headaches. I wonder how many of those people visit the doctors complaining of neck and head pain! A TV should be at eye level or below when you are sitting down. Also wouldn’t the heat from the fire cause possible damage to the TV? Have your fire by all means, but the TV is better on a low unit on one side of the fireplace, depending on where your sofas are placed. Don’t discard electric fires. There are some really nice modern ones available and you just plug in and go. Here’s some examples....See MorePlease advise: TV above fire place, what shelves?
Comments (4)Lol. You should clarify the scope of work with any trades person you hire. Don't assume anything! I would suggest a competent handyman. You could hire an electrician but that might work out more expensive. You could also go to a Home Audio Visual Installation company but they can work out the most expensive. They do, however, offer many more services like fitting surround sound systems, ceiling speakers, home cinema systems etc. So generally you would get a handful of quotes, making sure you have explained exactly what you want done and then pick the most reasonable one. You can try sites like mybuilder.com to find local trades people. They can give you quotes online....See Moredecorate assymetrical fire place and nearby wall
Comments (5)I'd remove the fire tools too (they should be on the floor, I think). A plant that will hang down the side (perhaps a Scindapsus or Philodendron) on the part where the tools now are would be enough decoration on the fireplace for me. I would however prefer a wall to wall TV shelf on the TV side and art on that wall. Just something simple. A shelf below it for the technical stuff? A large basket with logs on the left side maybe? See my bad photoshop effort :-)...See MoreFire place ideas
