Lounge almost complete but need some ideas please
Comments (47)Hi thanks very much for the useful hints and tips, they've really helped! So far I've done a subtle re-jig of the decorative items on the shelves and thinned them out a bit to make it less busy (and more contemporary). I have added a cushion and throw plus a bit more useful storage baskets and so far I'm happier with it now. I also have to consider the overall flow of the room rather than 1 wall - for example when I walk into the room this wall is on the left and the sofa wall is on the right, and there was a risk that if I added shelves etc on this wall it would then unbalance the look of the room as the sofa walls are so far pretty plain. I'm getting a new sofa next month and when this arrives I'll be able to see the room in its finished form and can make any last minute adjustments!! I want to add some more shiny stuff and will get a nice chrome tray or centrepiece for my glass coffee table. Pffft, this house decor lark can take over your life sometimes :))...See MorePlease I need help on best colours tobrighten up dark brownn sofas
Comments (9)@Milfordmaid: thanks a lot for the suggestion. Lime green is sounding very nice to me. What did you mean by smaller bits of pillar box red? What do you think of the rug? I actually had a re-think and was thinking maybe I should leave out the rug. Just to use bright cushions, lampshades, and some decorative accessories combining the cushion colours and sofa colours and a bit of cream. What of the wall art?...See MoreNeed some ideas for this floor plan please!
Comments (28)So we have! Do you think there's room for fitted wardrobes either side of the fireplace in the bedroom? The compromise on both plans are the bedroom size but I personally would prefer a larger living area. What if you extend the kitchen to the window wall and have the sink unit up against the firewall? I'd just try adding a table and sofa to see how it all looks. Your idea would obviously be the cheaper option too. If you want the open plan area to feel bigger stick to the same flooring or colour flooring throughout btw (I appreciate the plan is just indicative at the mo). I wonder if it would also be possible to try and work round the chimney breast for the bathroom so as to cut down plumbing costs. It may have to be a shower in that top leg corner though...See MoreNeed some ideas for my ktichen walls please
Comments (6)Our kitchens are not just a place we find comfort in cooking to unwind, and of course where a lot of us eat, it is a place we often choose to entertain and socialise. Our kitchens can be our public display of our style tastes, and one of the pleasures we get from this is that 'WOW!' we get from visitors. You have painted a clear image of your kitchen, and I can imagine it looks amazing. Modern, Chic, and stylishly put together, to get a clean, strong statement about your positive, and strong personality. Dramatic shades of Grey and Charcoal are important role players in a monochromatic scheme, with a bold accent feature (Red). Similar to other neutrals they can be really varied, for instance some greys can add a real sense of depth to a small area of a space, allowing the other elements around it to 'pop'. Greys and charcoals also work extremely well in areas that are uses a lot during evenings, with the correct lighting they can help set a mood to create a foundation for your theme, to give you a real stand out wow! Using a paint that is matt will compliment the light properties of the glitzy worktops by contrast, creating a lux-contemporary feel to the space. I have given a couple of examples for an idea book below. I hope this was helpful, please contact me if you would like to chat about your design dilemma some more, and please give us a review.
