Hi Amelia, This is a fantastic space, I love the detail and height you have in your living room! A great way to get away from the stark white walls is to paint the room in a grey tone, this will allow you to still use your existing furniture and accessories in your space. I would suggest using Grey Steel 3, which a beautiful soft grey tone. This colour will definitely be in keeping with the details of the room and most importantly your furniture. Or if you do want to stay with the neutral tones Chalk Blush 3 will be the best colour for this as this is still bright but brings a touch of warmth to the room. If you would like to give either of these colours a try you can always get some tester pots and test them out or if you have a smart phone you can download the Dulux visualizer app. This is so easy all you have to do is point your phone at the walls of your room and pick either of these colours. if you are looking for a crisp, clean grey, I would stay away from Farrow and Ball, their light greys all tend to have a muddy look, which is fab if you want vintage look. If you are looking for high end paint, little greene colours are definitely more clean and crisp than F&B but a lower price alternative would be Laura Ashley, I used their pale dove grey and it was very fresh and clean (really pale though, not sure if that is what you are looking for). You will probably read some bad things about LA paint but my experience of it was fine, looked like any other paint when it was done! Also, don't pay full price for it, it is always on sale.

I know it's counter-intuitive, but I'd go deep saturated Blue/green...or Teal. All over. It will unify all the odd planes and angles in this room. Keep all the woodwork a fresh white. Use pops of jewel toned soft furnishings...to link the blue & taupe sofas...or... Use patterns in tribal/ ikat tones to keep it masculine. Build up some open shelving for storage along dead-wallspace near the door entrance to this room.
