Long, long ago my grandmother told me to make my mind a place I liked to visit. I spend a lot of time in there and that only works when I am alone. I love people and company but it's good to be my own good company.

It's not that I'm afraid, I'm just not very good at being by myself for longer than a day!

I too would love one, living out in the sticks as I do, the nearest gym to me is way too far away - as are supermarkets for that matter (on-line shopping for me, I am afraid)! I am lucky enough to live in the Yorkshire Dales and I do go walking in the summer when longer nights allow, but during the winter with miserable weather and dark nights, it would be fabulous to have a home gym.

Dark green looks great in the kitchen! It would work especially well with some natural wood, either in an island or as a contrasting cabinet. A wash of dark green, with the natural grain of the wood showing through, would also be a lovely but slightly more subtle way to play around with this colour scheme.

I have no problem being home alone, I enjoy it, time to think my own thoughts and get on with jobs and things that need doing. Never think about the negatives in life

My Mother always said " don't meet trouble half way, it will always find you without you looking for it"!

Love to be alone. A long time ago I found I was very happy with my own company and I have always loved my home, even when I was a young woman living on my own. Just give me a good book and I am happy.

Home alone is fine. If you can be alone when the cats are around and the sheep in the field next to us don't count!

I'd rather have my husband around, not a cat.
However, it's great to have a place to myself from time to time. With two young kids a little quiet time seems even more previous.

I don't mind being alone during the day but i don't like being on my own in the evening. When my husband is out i cant sleep until he is home.

I had never lived on my own until the age of 57 when I divorced my husband after 36 years of marriage. I lost two stones in weight in eight weeks through sheer terror but now (11years later) I would never share a house again. Important - I have wonderful wine loving and mahjong playing friends and a very close relationship with children and grandchildren.

As an avid outdoorsman, I pitty the poor soul that tries to invade my home! They would likely be met by a very protective Labrador and me wielding either a shotgun or a LaCrosse stick!

Loner preferably - but have to have a bit of background noise! Nice when you get the chance there is usually at least 6 of us around and extras that are dragged in for fun!

I lived in fear of being alone for a no of years after a most harrowing break in to my home. Three years ago we moved house and I knew even in the first viewing that I could overcome my fear in this house and I have. We did move out of a city to a much quieter area. In the past I would bombard myself into my bedroom until morning if I were alone, totally petrified, now I have absolutely no problems at all.

Time alone is time to think and consider life. I am in the city but the house is quiet. I love it.
