Yellow or orange is a great counterpoint for cushions for the sofa and maybe a rug. Curtains are more expensive to replace so it may be best to keep them neutral. There's a cute modern style rug from habitat with a grey & yellow pattern. Take a swatch of your check and see how well it matches.

yes if the walls are strong white , which is a lovely colour i would go for the stronger taupe so that they stand out against the wall colour. Leading and back edges look amazing and just add that extra to make the curtains interesting. On my houzz site is a project for Ashurst where i did that in the living room and it works really well, especially for double height. look at villa nova akita (john lewis stock it) its a faux slub silk and wide range of plain colours

Hello Rudolfdzin, That's quite a place!!!... I would suggest a light tile yes...Stone or something similar.. Mandarine Stone is a good place to look... I also think that you could have a large mirror in that adjoining area with all the chairs... I would also consider looking at the furnishings and possibly update to compliment the look of the house...I would move the rug from that adjoining room and place it somewhere else... I have attached a few things that would be amazing in your place... : ))

I tend to prefer long curtains personally as well but if you think that brushing past them would annoy you then I’d go for short. Roman blinds could be an option as well if they will tuck under the pelmet, I do feel that you’d need a double layer approach with perhaps a roller blind in the window to block out the light tho. You could always ask the curtain maker to include curtain weights in the bottom. This would help to make the fabric hang a lot straighter. Of course this does depend on what type of fabric you choose. A thick woven wool or chenille for example (something you might use for cushions or upholstery) will have a lot more bulk and stick out more. Synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester tend to drape better because of the smooth weave.
