I think that people mostly wallpaper all their walls, or, just one feature wall (usually the one you face when sitting) I was looking at the thread of emails and Moniker sent 2 pictures right at the beginning that I think look fab. A few subtle changes in your room that would make a big difference are getting bigger bedside lamps and getting a large statement piece of art or perhaps even a large mirror instead (which would make the space look lighter and brighter too) I'm not sure what your budget is but changing the carpet to a neutral cream or taupe would also help tie the room together. I'd personally dress the window with a simple Roman blind or roller blind a bit bigger than the window as having curtains behind the bed may be a tad difficult to manage? However, if you are in love with the idea of wallpaper, you could always paper three walls first, and based on how you think it looks, either leave it at that or continue with the forth wall.

Thank you all for your comments! We went back to look again today and it doesn’t look quite as dark in the middle of the day. I think it might well be similar to a French gray, although possibly with slightly more brown in it. We think we might try to put a natural-stain wood as a trim around it and go for our original scheme of wood floor, light grey walls, white kitchen cupboards and dark blue island with copper pendant lights and copper accents, something a little like the images below. Am just hoping the brown wood will blend the brown/grey trim so that it doesn’t clash! It sounds like you all think it will be fine which is reassuring!

We have been looking at a lot of windows and all the R range are really nice. We went to a showroom to look at them, which may be better than waiting for a sample (if the sample isn’t an entire window).They are pricey but worth it if you live in a house which you can justify expense for if you want to sell up at some point, or it’s your forever house.

Does anyone know anything about UPVC windows, locally the 3 recommended brands seem to be koemmerling or profile 22 or aluplast Quality and aesthetically which brand is best, has anyone had any experience having any of these installed? There doesn’t seem to much information out there comparing different brands. All a bit confusing. Any knowledge gratefully received 🙏
