Hi, trying to get some opinions on if I should have lights in my stepped unit. the opening is 3m x 2m and my dining table will sit below it. I was thinking up/down lights or just down lights.

We are planning just to put lining paper on the upper half of the walls then just paint. Carpet will be coming up and no plans yet what to replace it with so open to ideas. Really want to make a statement with the hall. There are lots of doors on upper and lower landing so lots of wood that I intend to keep. All suggestions welcome. Debbie

Thanks for the feedback. Jonathan my concern was the dining table was not under a skylight. I could only move the lanterns back another 600mm where the new flay roof extension starts. However I do like the though of a long thin rooflight like the one in the picture. The longest I can see is one from EOS at 2.4 x 0.6m. My other through it to have the rooflights or lanterns running vertically instead...any thoughts? Thanks for all the advise BTW!

Thanks for your reply. yes its so difficult to know right now. (Having similiar dilemma on the other side of the room with the island pendent lighting!) i was thinking of a long sideboard/ cupboard for the left side and maybe just a large feature plant or sculpture for the right? Didnt really want to do the built in media wall/shelving thing across the whole wall. i dont know whether to just scrap the wall lights and stick with lamps!
