Hi, do you have any pictures of the kitchen cabinets or the room? Are you having a kitchen island? I ask as if you're worried about playing it safe but nervous about a bold colour, a contrasting kitchen island can be a lovely feature and introduce bolder colours

I love the idea of navy base units and white wall units. White countertop. Gold accent handles. But without seeing your kitchen it's hard to suggest something that might work in the space!

Hi , have you seen f/b white tie its a really classy warm off- white? White kitchens are predicted by the designers to be very on trend this year. Nothing bounces around light like white. Think of your kitchen as a work in progress, be proud of what you have already achieved. I would get the bones of your kitchen right first and then build on that. If you let it evolve slowly like a fine wine you will get amazing results. Kitchens are so expensive and we all want to get them right for that reason, so I think taking your time is a ladies choice, right? You can address any light issues later with some artificial task lighting when future funds permit. Tread slowly and build it up slowly. Or simply paint the walls in an inexpensive white paint, live with it for a few weeks/months, by then you will know what you want. Hope that helps.

Some great suggestions here but I agree that pics or something to indicate your preferred style would be helpful. You're right about having so many choices. I've been struggling with similar problems in my home. Sometimes, the feel of what you have already will help point the way to the right color. Could we get a hint of what you have chosen?

Thanks for all your helpful ideas. I might try and get a sample of f/b white tie as i have not looked at that yet. I also will try and get a sample of dulux egyptian cotton as that looks like a colour that could work. The kitchen cabinets are in a shaker style as i am not into fussy designs and do not like bright/bold colours.. We have not got a huge kitchen so we are making the most of the space we have by knocking down stud wall that was the porch to the back door and putting our cooker in the chimney breast. I think i may have a sketch of the kitchen design on my lap top , so will try and upload that later if that will help?Once again, thank you for all your help. you have given me a lot to think about!

Thanks for links. i bought a sample of white tie and think it is the one! Even my husband commented what a lovely colour it was. Will look at the links you have sent me as would be nice to see it in a kitchen setting rather than on the piece of paper taped to my walls!!

mrsmcee74, thanks for the ideas, i have just finished painting a sample of dulux egyptian cotton and am waiting for the second coat to dry - my kitchen has painted a4 sheets of paper all around the walls at the moment!!

I have 6 different samples of dulux testers that i am waiting to dry at the moment so hopefully i am going to be happy with one of them!

What did you go with Debbie? We are now choosing a colour for our kitchen cabinets in a north facing room. My husband is determined to have green cabinets (kind of turquoise-mint) but I am not keen.

I am also having this dilemma for the whole kitchen room. Want greys and off whites as want the room to feel calm but not clinical. Looking forward to seeing your pictures
