Hi Heba I concur with what a lot of people have said about the sealant. Some paving stones are more porous than others and will need sealing to prevent them from absorbing water. I am also concerned, from the photo, that the water has nowhere to drain to. All paved areas need to be laid on a fall (a uniform gradient) to allow water to run off them. This fall should be directed to a drain or planting border so that it has somewhere to drain to. I recommend pavingexpert.com as the most concise and simple reference for information on these matters. Regarding the colour change, I'm afraid this natural weathering happens to all stone. The stone can be brought back to it original colour by jet-washing.

Katie I think purbeck and skimming stone look ok next to each other, I have a hallway in skimming stone and a room off the hall in purbeck but I probably wouldn’t put them in the same room together. To my eye they have a different undertone. If ammonite is too blue maybe try strong white? Or paint the walls the same colour as the alcoves.

It's difficult to truly replicate the natural beauty of something like Travertine, Laura. However, Karndean and other luxury vinyl tile (LVT) manufacturers can get close and can offer additional benefits that Travertine cannot offer. Main points being the one you hit on… general maintenance. With a natural stone floor you will need to have some kind of routine maintenance factored into your "free time". Depending on the tiles thickness, you do also run the rick of potential cracks over time. Here's a reply we recently posted to a Houzz user posing a similar question: Karndean and Amtico are the brand LVT leaders. Amtico been about for 50+ years, Karndean 25+. They are great at marketing and their position in the market means you pay over the odds for what you get. They both deliver very, very good products and designs but compared to other reputable manufacturers on the market they are pricey.
