Personally I wouldn't go with a yellow splash back. Not because it wouldn't go but more that you already have enough of that accent colour around the room, over do it and it can look forced. There is a fine line between getting the balance right were it looks classy and going over board to the point it looks naff. Personally I would either go for a splash back that is colour matched to the walls or a smoked mirror. You are limited in some ways because it appears there wasn't any forward planning with regards to splash backs. Any splash backs would need to be confined to the width of the extractor because your curved wall units won't open otherwise. They would have to be packed off the wall if you wanted to go full width splash back. I would recommend a durable matt paint in the kitchen. Good quality ones will withstand washing without polishing up and showing tell tell marks where they've been washed. I understand a colour matched glass splash back or smoked mirror may seem like the safe option and boring to some, but there is no point in being brave just for the sake of it. You've got plenty of other points of interest in the room with regards to colour without having to push it too far. Let the kitchen itself be a subtle canvas to show off other items rather than fight with them for attention would be my advice.

Lovely kitchen - very nice design and beautifully finished! Wrt splashbacks - glass is probably the first choice, with near infinite posibilities wrt colour, print or even a hint of sparkle. Decoglaze have some fantastic options in their Decokiln range if you want to add some interesting textures. If cost is an option, you could consider acrylics, as you do not need to worry about heat. As a last thought, would you consider a feature geometric tile, such as these from Ted Baker? If used sparingly as an accent, they could work really well with your design and colour scheme. Hi, its a really nice space I know you mentioned you like the country style, you could incoporporate some wooden paneling similar to the image below for your wall and backsplash as it give a rustic vibe. Alternativly sage green tiles would lokk really nice and still keep the space feeling bright. I think a sage green would work really well with your white units and soften the black cooker (Ive added an image below). It would also work with either the grey floor you currently have or the beige travestine tiles if you did decide to continue them from your hallway. You could then add some sage accents like a clock, lights etc to bring the scheme together (taking inspiration from the below image.) And adding a plant maybe a Fern in a rustic pot will bring the country vibe into your space. Im not sure what your current units are made from but you could look into pianting some of the units to bring the colour scheme together. Hope this helps Louise

Mirror splashbacks can make a small space look really cool between wall units and base units. Apart from the standard mirror silver you can get antiqued (is your kitchen style dictates this) or coloured glass such as copper/bronze. If you are not that keen at looking at yourself then a smoked grey is a great option for modern contemporary kitchens. Mirror splashbacks can be cut around sockets for that perfect look. Ensure behind your hob that you have toughend glass otherwise it could shatter with the heat from the hob. A simple upstand in the same material as your worktop say 75mm high is simple then use a washable paint for above for a simple look. Hope that helps
