@Emmaline. ..just to assure you that whoever mentioned fuzzy toilet seats mistated this. No, they are not actually put on the SEAT. These are not so popular, I don't think, as they were 30 years ago but what they are is a matching rug toilet LID cover. I remember there used to be tank covers but my memory is vague on that. The tank thing might have been the tank LID also. In old days, bathroom sets had the bath mat, the mat with a cut out to allow it to fit around the toilet on the floor, the seat LID cover. They got picked up and washed regularly with the bath mat. I'm not sure if that wasn't better than stepping in male drippings. Better? Worse? We had no males in our household so it was nice to keep feet warm up in winter. My mom was a really good housekeeper so...anyway that was a looong time ago and it was the lid, not the seat itself. I could see how that would be so wrong on every level.

Lime green. Ferns. yellows, oranges red are vintage colours to pick up in a large rug. Add large colourful prints in simple black ikea frames. paint your own canvas or get a few friends to do some instead of painting the walls. just a few tulips or daffodils at the moment will add zing. A white painted coffee table with magazines with colourful covers. just add frivolity & the black will act as a foil for colour. I also love Gold with white for a modern twist. As it is a rental don't invest money in stuff you can't take with you. Only buy what you love. remember the interior design adage: Every room needs something black. (albeit not this much, perhaps!) It will be fine.

What a beautiful staircase! It is stunning! Project Home UK suggested a stair runner going down the middle of the steps would perhaps be more effective than a fully fitted carpet. Hi Dee H, only just noticed this thread. We are a carpet & flooring company and I agree whole heartedly with the comments above. I would, however, have added a twist - you can get some amazing striped carpets nowadays which would have had greys and beiges in them with complimenting single colour carpets - you could have had a striped runner up the stairs and landing and then flowed straight into a beige for the bedrooms - this would have maintained your flow but giving your differentiation.
