Depends what is beyond the French doors- if it a conservatory he is probably right. If you are building a new room you can have what you want- but making that opening larger will add expense

Thank you. It will be brick built with bi-fold doors across whole width with two velux windows in the roof. If I have to keep a door can anyone suggest a type of internal bi folding door for the opening.
