Ideas for kitchen styling?

We've recently ordered a new kitchen in anthracite grey gloss with white earthstone worktops. It's a large kitchen with vaulted ceiling and sky lights. There's room for a sofa at one end as well as a large island with bar stools. However I'm struggling with flooring colours? We're having oak doors and skirting boards, would oak floor look to much?also what colour bar stools, sofa etc? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Maybe go for a pale tile on the floor? As for colour of sofa, etc. the world is your oyster- any colour you like will work with that neutral background. Why not spend a few days browsing furniture stores until you find something you fall in love with, be it a sofa, bar stools, a painting, or even an accessory like a fruit bowl! Then use that item to kick off your colour scheme.

I like to suggest the word "Textures" So if you have grey and white as a colour theme then add to this to layer the look.. Think concrete bar stools and chairs and textured flooring.. Could be Encaustic tiles, Concrete screed or even a parquet in several shades and interesting design, chevron or a more traditional herringbone which works beautifully in an arrangement of styles to the very contemporary.. It could be a mix of any one of those as tile and parquet would be lovely as would tiles and concrete screeds.. The options for you really are endless...

With the doors and skirting.. bring them into the scheme... So give them colour too.. That way you actually have far more choices as you have included every aspect of the room.. Or keep them as is and add more woods here and there.. So maybe warm woods as accessories and bowls or other lovely pieces you'd find in a kitchen.. With the vaulted aspect you have space so make the most of this and lighting can be a key contender too! It sounds like a very exciting room and one you'll no doubt want to spend a lot of time in..

A somewhat less formal than usual chesterfield would be lovely... See image attached with other suggestions I have made above..

Hi, This looks like such a wonderful place to work from. How will work ever be done? I have a small post on my site on mobile offices: http://www.kalabas-interiors.com/mobile-office/ It might give you alternatives. Also have you considered a container? These can be easy to start with and you can clad the outside and give it a cabin feeling. Depending on the size you choose you might end up with a generous working space. Also a tipi like building made of wood or cladded in wood. With a view like that consider glass, creating an as wide as possible view. My last suggestion is http://hivehaus.co.uk They were shown on George Clarks, Amazing spaces and it looked really good. The idea of this modular space is that you can just 'slip' in additional space as and when needed. Hey there! This sounds like it could be an adventurous project and you've got plenty of space to work with too! I don't know the costs of this or what your budget is, but the 'Shoffice' is a popular option on Houzz - have a look, it's bigger than most offices and functions as a shed too (but I'm sure you could decide what you'd prefer it to operate as). Just a thought!

Hi, I would definitely consider repainting the doors (especially if it works out cheaper) and would consider a dark grey with blue undertone to co-ordinate with your tiles whilst cutting between the wood / wood sort colours and shades. I would also change the door handles if you then would like to go for a wood worktop, I don't think It would look over the top. Alternativly, if you feel that you dont want a high maintenance worktop, I would look at the wood effect laminate worktops, they do vary in quality depending on where you buy but many nowadays are made to be tough and durable and require no additional maintenance except the usual cleans to maintain hygiene. Thank you again, ladies and E D! E D, we are on the Wye river on the border between England and Wales. We managed to track some of the people who lived here over centuries based on the unique name of the cottage (which I am not going to mention here). One was a curate who wrote a few poems about the place, then a local doctor, then a vicar (although the nearest church is about 1 mile away) - that covers the 19th century. Back to house, a pale cream was on my list of colours, Sonia, together with some light grey. Someone thought a dark orange, or pale brick red would look good, but I’m not that bold. The main impact will be on the other side of the house which is all rendered. PS we managed to get rid of the hot tub, I can’t tell you how happy that makes me, even though we had to take down part of the garden wall to get it out.
