Great question! We value a good night's sleep at Bloc Blinds and have developed the BlocOut Blind with that in mind. It provides an unmatched level of darkness in the home. We get a lot of feedback from customers about how much better sleep they are getting as a result both to reduced light in their own room but also due to their children sleeping in longer thanks to the light levels in their rooms too. It is a winner of multiple awards including the House Beautiful award for Best Eco Product and shortlisted this year for the Made for Mums awards under Best Nursery Product Category. what is the level of insulation provided by glazings and new walls? especially glazing, to avoid dispersions... ideally radiators should be close to the cold points (glazing, again) to balance the environment and shield the incoming cold. The corner with the table seems the best option, if I translate this plan into a finished space. Other factors: Curtains can help. Solar gain (exposure) can help. A dark paving outside can help (absorbs sunlight and releases heats slowly). I often say it's better to consult an architect in advance, dear, because of matters like this that get pointed out during the design... But do not desperate, just make sure the insulation is good and the glazings are good too!

Sonia is absolutely correct. I know you are trying to get a ballpark first to figure out an estimate in your own mind but everything is much more expensive now as materials have soared in price since covid. First get the builders quotes (at least 3) and then you can figure out from that which parts you would like to take on yourselves to save a bit. Make a complete list of the work and give it to 3 builders to quote and take it from there. Don't forget to check their references and possibly visit some of their previous clients to assess the quality of their work without them being present.

The only way to work out what the cost of this would be is to either source the materials yourself from different suppliers or get a Quantity Surveyor to work it out for you. The clue lies in the 'from a few years ago' note in your post. Costs have escalated massively. Could you take the dimensions and work it out from that? A close estimate will be good enough. It also depends on your level of DIY skills as paying for any professional work will increase the costs hugely. I just paid a plumber/heating engineer close to £500 to replace a bath filler tap. Be realistic.
