Hello Esther, Have you thought about painting the alcoves a nice warm creamy colour to brighten the room and give the fireplace a bit more focus. Something like Whitening by Little Greene is a fantastic colour.. You could do the windows wall too... One thing that you might want to have a look at is the placement of the furnishings.. They are all up against the wall.. What about bringing the sofa further into the room but placed at 90 degrees to the left to face the two windows, so it's a bit closer to the fireplace.. The chaise longue which is rather nice could go opposite.. or the armchair..... I actually think it would all sit better on the blue floor without the rug.. Personally I don't feel it is the right choice for the room.. Then you have a coffee table in between and if you put the armchair opposite the sofa then perhaps the Chaise can go to face the fireplace.. So you create a U shape.. Or 1 1 if you get what I mean.. From the angle of the image it looks like the picture on the rear wall is a little small.. Would be good to see what other furnishings you have.. But the peachy colour and duck egg blue will work and a lift with something creamy and chalky like I mentioned.. Some nice table lamps or a floor lamp would be also nice.. It looks like a big room from the photo but the space is being lost because funnily enough, having everything to 1 side does not help... By bringing the furnishings into the room you actually open the room up to show it's balanced and proportional.. For cushions plains light blues and creamy or peachy colours would lift and blend with the walls.. : ))

I think the problem is more that it looks a little lonely too. Needs a side table/drawer, bowl for keys, coat stand maybe? In addition to your suggestion ofcourse.

The dining chairs are really strangely shaped, that's why there is nothing on them at the moment. They are really wide at the front and narrower at the back of the seat. So any square or regular shaped dining table cushion fits really strangely. I would -like- a beige rug, but I know myself and our lifestyle here enough to know better. The bottom of the house is open all summer with us and the dog going in and out. I'd be setting myself up for frustration trying to keep it clean. I would consider jute, my husband doesn't like the idea of it but I don't mind it. Is it really rough on bare feet? I just measured and I think the widest I could go for a coffee table would be about 1 meter wide.

I think I prefer the Ikea sofa as the Next one looks a little bulky for the room, washable covers also sound good. I do prefer the Ikea sofa I added but yours should work too, they're identical except for the arms. I also think they work well with the chairs, a different style is good. Just personal opinion but again for me if you're going industrial I would go for a wood floor and it adds so much warmth to a room, LVT may be a softer option? (Last try I promise!). Not sure if you like any of this? I didn't find cushions to match just in case you hate this one and it takes a while looking! It's impossible to choose art for somebody but you may like these. Junique and desenio are also good for affordable prints. Neon signs are also a good way to personalise a room if that's your thing i would add lots of texture for accessories, I think you need to get the furniture agreed first though. I would go for a light neutral for the walls. Need to know which way the room faces and you could work with any undertone in the navy paint
