Kitchen or open plan colours

We are renovating our kitchen on a budget and thinking of replacing the cupboards above the worktop a with floating shelves...so please use your imagination. We will also replace the worktop and tiles. Currently it's blue which I wouldn't have chosen but like but any recommmendations or suggestions would be much appreciated. I will also welcome any other kitchen recommendations as we have only got as far as taking one cabinet off and new lightning x

    Hello Sophie,

There's lots and lots of things you could do here.. to create the kitchen you want. One of the most important is good fitting.. you could re-distribute existing shells and add new doors.. Or have something made... Consider handles or none? Carved handle in door or plain... Wood or painted...

Any way to align sink in front of window with something rectangular perhaps that doesn't interfere with the window which looks partially covered from what I can see (could be wrong) Is there a way to open that section completely to reveal the whole window? Maybe move things along further? Will you be buying any new appliances or just worktop and tiles...

Re the flooring, is this to stay or be painted or? It might be nice to compliment the floor with the worktop but consider the colours you want to have.. Also consider whether you want to incorporate blue onto the cabinets? You could have blue up to worktop and then a creamy warm white above and shelves...... So many ways to deal with your kitchen... :))

I'll see if I can find a shelfie for inspiration.... I have had the same kitchen I had put in 5 years ago and it has undergone several transformations... as you see here, you can really create very different looks with small cosmetic changes... .... :))

Hi! I actually love these style of cabinet, they can look really good, but yes the colour is not ideal! If on a budget, you would be best to painting them a different colour instead of replacing them - maybe a white, grey or black to keep it neutral. Then use metro tiles to give a more contemporary look. If you want further advice get in touch - info@topologylondon.co.uk. We are a virtual interiors company than can offer advice from £75 and give you access to all our trade discounts to save you money. Happy redecorating! www.topologylondon.co.uk

I would really think twice before removing the wall cupboards unless you are a fan of having everything on show. The kitchen already looks massively cluttered and unless there's more storage we can't see in these pictures I think you may find you're glad of them.

I too decided that I wanted a more open look in the kitchen and on a non existent budget took off all the wall cupboard doors painted it all and turned it into open shelving
