I think the picture is fine, it follows the lines of the brick pillars (it may need to to go a fraction to the right but that could be the camera angle but I cant tell if it's hung at the right height as the pic doesn't show the ceiling!)I'd go for brick slips for the hearth. In terms of ornaments you need a couple of things with some height on either side, they could match or not ( if not then get one taller than the other) but I think they need to be at least 2/3 inches higher than the bottom of the picture. I'd also centre the clock. I don't know what your style is but you could try orchids, vases or candlesticks, urns, decorative jars like a ginger jar etc. I think the rhino is too short with the picture tbh, unless you can lower the picture?

firstly I love the vibe of your room colour glorious and the chairs and tan sofa are fab. I would try and balance the sitting arrangement so centred around the fireplace. I would defo have a rug perhaps in golds citrus shades very decedent perhaps geometric pattern to go with the moody walls and pick up pieces like mirror and photo frames in gold and copper tones. I like the bay bare and let the light flood in or gorgeous sheer voiles. little milk stools are lovely touch so would keep them. Drinks trolley with beautiful cut glass decanters and glass bouncing light across the room. why stop there over sized crystal lamps and chandeliers with lovely shades. I would be careful with art work as my clash with strong colour on walls may not even need anything more. beautful coffee table in crystal with gilt frame adorned with lovely bits and pieces that reflect your life and personality. and perhaps a tall glass shelf unit with similar frame. old books throws. im getting carried away sorry but would love to have a go at this project have fun that's the most important thing I feel and only invest inpieces you totally love because then you will always love them and can always move them around to refresh or even style another room

I like the quarry tiled hearth, I think it gives warmth and character. I recently plastered over a monster of a fireplace and decided to keep my quarry tiles even though my husband hated them. they now look right with the smooth plaster and we are glad we kept them. You could paint the bricks, keep the wood and then decide....?

Your style looks quite classic so why not go for something like this?
