Hello! This is a really stylish pendant light and could look great in a living room but please bear in mind the type of light you will get from it. Firstly, it will cast a pool of light straight down which, on its own, is neither flattering to the room nor the people in it. Accompanied with accent lighting such as wall lights or lamps, it could work. Secondly, unlike your cotton shade, the bulb will be more exposed and therefore not ideal if above a sitting area. You could consider a suspended bar light. This way it would provide a strip of subtle light but in a very modern way. It's also a better look than the prescriptive 3 pendants. This is the only example I can find right now but there are loads of them for all sorts of prices.
