Comments (10)I'd just paint the newel posts white. You could paint the top of the post and handrail in a light-mid neutral if wanted (as shown in the pic but with wood!) or just do the whole lot white. I might consider putting in spindles at the bottom as I assume your front door is a few feet away? I have the same issue with my staircase which has been altered, different period and it has spindles, but you step through the front door and after a few feet you encounter a "solid barrier" to the hall which is the bottom of the stairs!...See MoreHelp with dated look of house
Comments (4)Agreeing with Gina! It will bring it straight back up to date. You could also consider dyeing the stone using a product called dyebrick, maybe in Charcoal to match the window frames. Dyebrick I think round the back, i'd copy the planting and wall on the left and bring it across under the front door. Paint the railings to match the windows or even change the railings possibly for wood to soften the look and make it a little more inviting. It will help frame the door and make the back visually more appealing. I think the render would look good in 'Sandstone' it works well with Greys....See MoreHelp with property exterior
Comments (14)Thanks for all your comments. Unfortunately the current doors are rotting so we need to replace them 😥 I prefer the look of painted wooden doors and am worried that a composite door colour just won’t have the same effect. I love the green sage colours that Sonia posted above but just can’t find something as striking yet muted in the ral/bs range for a composite door! I think silk grey and pebble grey against cream windows may not be enough of a contrast...but chartwell green may be abit too much - I’m hoping to find something in between 😊...See Morelocation24
