The mirror is Sheesham wood, also known as Indian Rosewood or Dalbergia sisso. The Walnut is a better match as it will have some light and dark tones when sanded and oiled or waxed. If you can get it made then Elm will also give you some contrasts. You may need to get someone 'Arty' to use a combination of dark and medium wood stains in order to 'create' an artificial match. My wife has used this technique often for clients..............she is now apparently 'retired'!

Guys, please help!! Is it just me so something is still off??..is everything too bland...? Today we have received our rug and some other accessories.. and it seems that cushions and a throw are too much, so will return those...and will use light purple throw. But for some reason I have a feeling that something isn't just right..have I gone completely mad?.. Please let me know what you think of this..! And apologies about the dog, he just loves being in a centre of everything :) thank you!!!!

It looks like untreated pine so furniture wax will tone the colour down and bring it much closer to the floor colour. You can buy wax or wood scratch polishes which have dye in them to match the floor colour but a few applications of a normal wax from the supermarket will do the job and protect the wood.

Hi, I wasn't really meaning take the console away and move the table so far as to close the gap, more take the table away and use the room to create space. You look like you have a lot of room up by the door on the wall facing. If you remove the ladder shelves, you could replace it with a dresser or sideboard. We have a painted Queen Anne sideboard, you can fit loads in it and it's only 50cm deep. A dresser to match your table would look great too. I personally prefer the mirrored on to add light, although you could have a sideboard with a mirror over it as separate items:-
