Hi. I would probably declutter first. There is an awful lot of furniture in the room. I would get rid of the cabinet on the fireplace wall and move the tv on top of the chest of drawers. Remove the coffee tables and the pine chair and the items on top of the wardrobe. I'd remove the 3 pictures and replace with a very large piece of art, I don't know what you like but something vintage or contemporary ie travel, cinema, typography, street signs etc. Walls could look good in grey but choose a warmer grey, a cold grey doesn't look as it if would work. Or you could go for a rich, deep colour on a feature wall. What colours, style do you like? New bedding to coordinate and I'd add just one large statement cushion. I'd also add a bigger mirror in the room. Do you have pictures of the other side of the room? Buy a nice bin, some of the wire industriał style ones look good.

Hi. I think it's a good idea. Is the tv in the conservatory staying? If it is I'd maybe consider a 3 seater on the back wall with a small 2 seater/love seat in front of the patio door. If not consider a screen to block the tv. I'd have a coffee table in front of the sofa to bring furniture into the middle of the room. Alternatively could the tv go in the right recess and have a small woodburner installed in the fireplace?

Hello meadowside, I think it's really the proportions that have gone awry somewhat.. I would think of perhaps taking the black gas fire? out and opening that area out a bit more to make either a dark recess that the fire sits in, so it looks bigger.. or open it up and have a real one.. So really it's creating a bigger opening.. rather than knocking it all down.. For the mantle area.. the mirror is far too small. Why not consider getting something much wider. A rectangular mirror that is at least half the mirror width more either side, hanging about 5cm higher at least... .. What about painting the wall above and little sides.. a colour that will compliment the red brick.. Then instantly you have a less dominating fire surround and a whole feature fireplace.. The brick is red so work with.. rather than against.. Much better to paint the wall a complimentary colour I feel that will make it all stand out.. After all a fireplace is not meant to be an after thought or something that is blending into cream walls.. The carpet works with it and I would simply move the square pouffe a little further away.. and possibly add some rusty red coloured cushions to tie in the fire and the carpet.. It's important to work with the fire that actually suits the period of the house. : ))

I like the wallpaper. If it were me I would keep it and paint the remaining walls a colour that is in the paper such as the grey. I would then add a rug near the sofas, a big floor standing mirror on the wall papered wall and some big art for the plain walls. Instead of replacing sofas I would get rid of the throws but buy some cushions in their place. I like the table and chairs but if you are trying to update the look why not just replace half of the chairs with something similar but different. Lastly I would buy an extra piece of furniture for storage to replace the drinks trolley
