Thanks all! Definitely some food for thought... will look better at keeping the stone work at the front a sort of stoney colour with dark woodwork (hadn't even considered it but seems obvious now it's been pointed out so thanks fellow houzzers!).. the comments on it being up and coming aren't far off... ish... the area is really nice but it's a busy road which knocks it down.. it's a row of about 8 terraces within which there's 2 businesses... two houses.. one b and b and the rest flats.. understandable but a shame as it'll be a while before they realise their potential! thanks for the kind comments with the interior.. a couple more snaps below but we're only a 3rd of the way through the house... and even the done rooms aren't properly done - art to put up.. styling to do.. tweaks to furniture etc.. and these are just quick snaps with the phone.. but hopefully these couple of snaps give a flavour of what we're going for.. took it on as a proper wreck!!

If you want it to match find out the RAL colour from the window manufacturer and get some exterior wood paint mixed in the same colour.

Hi redkez78. If you like the natural silvered grey look it's really worth the wait. See our shed - just built in first photo and 2 years later in the other images (under veranda you can still see the difference as it's sheltered so will take longer). Friends speeded this up on their house by washing wood down with a large broom and a weak solution of water and bleach which worked well (see Art House B&B, Isle of Skye www.arthouse-skye.co.uk). Maybe good to test on a spare piece of wood first. Advantages - no maintenance at all and it looks beautiful! Alternatively you could use a water based pale grey exterior wood paint well watered down to create a 'wash' effect so you can still see the wood grain and you don't need to paint so neatly. Paint with a large brush then wipe excess off. Again, test on spare pieces of wood to get the effect you like, experimenting with percentage of water to paint. Hi Kusho1, I'd advise an Off-White as these are easier for upkeep compared to a Brilliant White exterior. Along with a Slate Grey for your exterior wood work, as this will work with the White window frames. If you need any more help, feel free to email me kerrybryaninteriors@outlook.com Kerry
