need help picking exterior paint colours

Help and ideas needed picking colours for exterior, much appreciated.

My semi detached house is getting a new makeover in a few weeks, but I'm having trouble picking paint colours. I'm thinking an off white for the pebble dash and a mid to light grey for the woodwork and windows. My decorator uses Dulux paint which has so many colours to choose from.

Anyone done such a big job for the first time ?

And colour advice would be great.

Hi Kusho1,

I'd advise an Off-White as these are easier for upkeep compared to a Brilliant White exterior. Along with a Slate Grey for your exterior wood work, as this will work with the White window frames.

If you don't have access to photoshop then I would print off some images onto easily paintable paper. Then colour by hand with the nearest colours to get an overall picture. So much cheaper and easier than painting the house then feeling unhappy. Having pinpointed the kind of colour then I would buy sample pots and actually paint a small section of the outside perhaps a metre x metre or yard x yard square of each colour.

I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. I would replicate its original windows, which are beautiful. It's a handsome house - keep its value by keeping its authentic character.
