If the garage is prone to flooding then i'd go for a polished concrete. However there are examples of 'waterproof' flooring around, however, I cannot testify to the longevity of any of the products having not used them. They are specifically designed for use in kitchens and bathrooms. I'm sure how they'd hold up against large volumes of water.

Also, You would need to ensure that any machines and cabinets that you put in are safely above any possible water level.

I'd personally dig a drainage channel in front of the garage to prevent the flooding in the first instance and then have your choice of flooring. Garage floors are not usually perfectly flat concrete such as would be poured indoors. Therefore, you would also need the floor screeded before putting the floor down.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I really appreciate your advice. I think a waterproof flooring is a good idea but would it endure if I brought my car inside. Also not sure who would dig the drainage channel in front of the garage?

I live in East Riding of Yorkshire. Would you be able to recommend anyone who would help me with designing cabinets. The washing machines and dryer need to be raised from the current floor due to the garage being prone to flooding.

I'd go with the channel in the first instance, this will stop the flooding as the water will drain in to the channel and not go under the garage door. Any builder can do that, it's very simple. If you have a manhole nearby you could put in a proper drain.

I'd still go with the polished concrete due to the car! I can see little point in driving it over an 'indoor' type flooring. If, and i presume there is plenty of room for the car and the units / washing machine etc. You could confine the fancy flooring to just the area for the units.

Once you have cured the water problem you won't have a cabinet problem.

Hello there, have you thought about Interlocking Floor Tiles? They are a great way to add colour to your garage plus they are hard wearing. You would probably need to sort out the water issue first though. Good luck!
