I love shutters but I think they would totally change the look of your house which looks great btw.If you're going to have mouldings and drop the window box a little lower I would think about artificial plants. I'm just thinking plants will need a fair bit of upkeep and unless you go up a ladder it could be dangerous! I know people may well disagree on that but I'm just thinking about leaning out of a window! I've had a quick look and you may struggle to find mouldings (seem to be called pediments?!) which would blend with the house. If so, just go for a deeper window box but hopefully you'll have more luck than me!

Hi Ellie, that's why I want the back door and the fixed window to match, in height/width, so not disjointed like you see. It was going to be completely taken out & french doors added. Now I'm planning that the door & 'window' to be side by side but with the soil stack part of the wall remaining in between, but one will be the back door the other fixed. The plan is to have them both just completely glazed not a half n half door like it is currently.

Velfac are good but keep an eye on accuracy of the quote - go over every detail with a fine tooth comb. The product is excellent though. You could also look at internorm, ideal combi and smart windows. It really depends on whether you want composite or all aluminium etc. try to visit showrooms or friends homes who have installed different systems - we found this helped hugely as it’s hard to visualise the differences between the different brands. Also look at glazing vision for your rooflights.

Good afternoon Francesca. From what I see of your bathroom there could be an option (pending survey of your space) that would enable you to retain the window and your existing layout (and hopefully enable minimal plumbing rerouting) by having the walk-in shower along the window.
