The added costs are painting the sides of the stairs and making them look good. Brass stair rods too.

@Sanah - rubbish at internet stuff but you can see the entire range of Nourison's Mondrian Runners at theRUGSELLER.co.uk where mine are. About 8 different patterns including stripes. Mine is code MON66 and £89, but I can't seem to find it online. Interestingly the range is not on Nourison's own main website. Maybe discontinued. There are larger hall runners, rugs and circular rugs too. Good luck

We are in the process of decorating our hall, stairs and landing. We are wondering what to do as our 80/20 carpet has only lasted 5 years before starting to wear on the treads. Our previous one lasted about a bit longer - about 8 years and that was a cheaper boucle style. We are wondering if we would be better with a runner - maybe it will be harder wearing?

Painting could be an alternative to carpet.
