Waterline pool tile

We are building a pool and looking at tile. Are there dos and don'ts we should consider? How do we know what looks dated or old fashioned? A couple that I thought were good were nixed by the designer for being too outdated. I trust him but can't tell what is or isn't. Of course we are on a budget, too. TIA

Neutral very monochromatic simple pools soft neutral tiles and uncomplicated is the direction design is going....simple water features...

A chemical pool cover is a liquid that is lighter than water which floats on the surface of the pool. Particles within the liquid are attracted to each other to form a thin layer to create the cover. The liquid cover is approximately 80% efficient compared to conventional pool covers and unlike a conventional pool cover which has to be removed from the pool for swimming, the particles separate whenever the water is sufficiently disturbed, but the cover reforms whenever the water becomes calm again.
