I am sure there is not much need for this advice.....it is also important the 'base' where the tiles are going to be fitted is adequate for those tiles, so don't use simple plaster boards please but hardiebaker cement boards, they are stronger boards and should be fine for the tiles you have in mind. there are also thinner wall tiles like those......but still very large format ( they are only 6mm in thickness)

Hi There! Sorry to give you a terrible answer: it depends... Without making any assumptions, the tile size does not seem too large or should not be to heavy in theory. But it all depends on your walls... are they brick or are they stud walls? For the tanking, they are right as marble is a very porous stone. We highly recommend you seal it as well otherwise you will see staining over time. And the staining always will show as a shade of yellow due to the deposits of oil... What could be a solution if you are looking for a marble look but not dead set on genuine marble, is porcelain tiles with marble print. Nowadays these come in amazing quality that you could not tell look wise that they are not marble. However, they are thinner and lighter and therefore would be able to go on to your wall in a bigger format. They also do not require tanking or sealing as they are not porous. Hi Vandana, although we agree with some points Minipie mentioned, but we think glossy marble in the house is just beautiful. Concerns that it feels cold can easily be solved by installing underfloor heating. And the fact that is glossy, we agree it can be slippery, but in the living room we presume you will have a nice big rug to make it cozy and non-slippery, but in the kitchen, that glossy finish will make it much easier to clean the floor. Personally I would put large tiles on the floor as well as in the shower, as herringbone will mean a lot of grout lines on the floor to get grubby. Then you could use the herringbone tiles on the wall behind the sink and make a feature of that wall? And/or on the wall above the bath (though it would be a hell of a job for the tilers with that slope, but can be done)? The bath panel could be either the large tiles or the herringbone. What’s the plan for the black long tiles - I like the idea of using those somewhere, maybe on the false wall behind the loo? Black herringbone as a nod to the white herringbone but to give a contrasting colour. Are the marble tiles real marble, or porcelain marble style? They are lovely by the way. If they are real marble I would be a little wary of using them in the shower as they are porous and may stain or spall, also mineral deposits can leach out causing rust stains especially with all those lovely veins. Calacatta is a particularly porous marble, more so than Carrara for example. If they are real then I would limit them to wall use (the sink wall and possibly the wall behind the bath as I say above) and perhaps use the black herringbone in the shower instead?
