Kitchen Tile Backsplash dilemma
Comments (7)Just an update on the backsplash dilemma that I had...I finally managed to find something nice and worthwhile. My dad and I did the tiling which was a steep learning curve as I never did this before in my life. But its an amazing feeling when you do something and it works out well in the end....See MoreKitchen Dilemma
Comments (9)Hi Megan, depends on what you class as cost effective, good quality laminate worktops might cost you 400-600 pounds easily and a tradesmen may charge 200 pounds plus to do the work this is before you factor in the splashback cost and a skip for the waste.....If it was me, I would wait until i changed the kitchen furniture and then do all the work at once then including the flooring. This would not only save you money in the long run but also allow you to pick a full color scheme for the room that's cohesive. This prevents your future kitchen furniture colour decisions being dictated by the floorng that's only recently been installed....that's how I see it anyway. sorry if I've thrown a cat among the pigeons, best of luck whatever you decide to do....See Morepaint colour dilemma
Comments (2)I remember your kitchen. I think adding more wood, wicker and cane would go with the Scandi theme and add warmth. The floor is great. So where the cute children’s Xmas paintings are I can see a couple of chunky wooden shelves (Etsy is a great place to source them), wicker light shades are gorgeous, or wicker wall plates (see below). I would also add a wooden chopping board to carry the wood theme. It can learn against the backsplash when not in use. Plants are good too. I think the sage green is lovely, but then green is my favourite colour. Scandi look tends to be more soft white (not Brilliant White), but sometimes the addition of black looks fab. In the last pic you can see how black is used with the lighting, handles and rack and yet it still looks bright and fresh....See MoreKitchen splashback dilemma...
Comments (15)This is ours, standard upstand and large piece of quartz behind the cooker. In hindsight, and if budget allowed, we would have the upstand higher up like your image, perhaps to the bottom of our wall cupboards. We find the cooker splashed onto the paint as does the sink. We used the same paint as we have elsewhere in the house which you can normally wipe down but for some reason the finish on the kitchen means we have real trouble doing this, so we’ll have to repaint periodically....See More- 9 years ago
