Kitchen help please - Adding a fridge freezer
Hi - I'm looking for some help in possible layout changes to a kitchen we had installed 2 and a half years ago. Since having it installed we have found that there's a few annoying little things we've had to put up with since this time. One of them is that we only have an under counter fridge in the kitchen. We have a fridge freezer in the garage but the garage is at the end of the garden and the appliance is breaking down so we are looking at our options to bring something into the house.
The other has been cupboard space in the kitchen. We have a couple of corner cupboards and have to reach into them so are thinking about easier access by using pull out storage in both of these. Also by replacing the under counter fridge with a full size fridge freezer, we would be able to make more use of the cupboard space.
I was hoping someone may be able to offer advice on whether we could install a new fridge freezer in the kitchen space and if so, where?
The space is a kitchen diner as shown in the photos, but we are going to get rid of the table and chairs and find a smaller kitchen table depending on if we can find a solution with a fridge freezer. One of the options is to use the space in the dining room and place either additional units and/or a large fridge freezer on the wall next to the internal door. Can anyone offer advice looking at the photos on what they would do?

Comments (8)Thanks for your thoughts. It is just for those kinds of days that you've mentioned so it does seem silly to cut into our our dining area but there is nowhere for one to go! We converted the garage and outbuildings for this extra space anyway. Most are deeper than your kitchen units so will stick out and if you look at the specification sheet of the fridge you are looking at you will find instructions of the gap you are supposed to leave between the fridge and cabinet to allow the doors to open....See MoreAmerican or French style fridge-freezer
Comments (10)I guess both fridges you are talking about are double door, and wider than regular fridges? I'm bit confused with some comments.... And difference is that french has freezer box on bottom+ 2 upper doors, while american has freezer in one side? Is that correct? If thats the case, and you already consider space and budget (french are more expensive), my recommendation is: If you are more used to use frozen food: go for american style, the frozen food is better organized than in french one. If you use more fresh food: french style, the fresh food has better organization and space I personally prefer...... French Style!.. because is wider space for fresh food to be stored (imagine a family size tray/cake) , I feel less food goes to waste, and i don't mind frozen food to be a bit stacked But again, it depends on what you are used to. 6 years agoIt looks like you have plenty of room on the back wall as you come in to put in a top and bottom unit to gain extra space and then the American Fridge Freezer. In fact, if you were to go for this style -
Because of the way it's constructed it's slightly narrower than some at 840mm wide. This leaves exactly 900mm for a 500 and a 400 unit top and bottom, gaining you a lot more storage. I'd put the Fridge Freezer in the corner where the plug is and then it won't feel narrow walking in to the room. Currys Fridge Freezer

6 years agowhy don't you buy a table and chair that has a picnic bench at one end - that way it will tuck under the table, so that when you are not using it - it will create more space in the kitchen.
