The problems seldom lie with the material, but with their connection to other elements and remain neat, weather-tight, durable & secure. The devil, as always, is in the detail.

Actually fabricating panels is relatively straightforward once the construction and fabrication details and dimensions have been sorted out.

And, of course, be careful with the insulation!

The first thing you need to think about is the drainage. Corten will go through a bleed cycle in the first years where is oxidises to protect its self. In doing this and until it’s fully rusted the water run off will stain the ground or finishes direct under it.
Your best using 3mm due to the mill scale it will have, gives a much richer texture. You can get down to 1.5mm but this is only in a mill finish which is smooth metal. You can also get ADZ which won’t bleed so much but is harder to find in the uk and twice the price.

As frazer78 suggests 3mm is really the minimum you can use, Corten has the property of rusting to a point where the layer of oxide provides a barrier to further oxidation. If the start point is too thin all you will have is oxide and little or no metal.

The largest sheets are 3m X 1.5m but for ease of installation I would suggest smaller sections, finding a fabricator to install should be easy but if you have any welding done, make sure the contractor uses a welding rod or wire that oxidises at the same rate or it will look odd usually from mild steel mig wire rusting too fast.

My experience with Corten is from rebuilding a Dutch Corten steel yacht hull 15 years ago for my brother so not quite the same as cladding a house.
