Kitchen/Dining/Sitting Area - where to start with layout?
Comments (7)Hi Chloe. I can't design for toffee (nor is to scale etc!) however it might give your thread a bump for those that can:) Personally I would probably employ Karen at OnePlan to design the whole space! Hopefully the plan is self-explanatory but i might look at banquette seating with shelves and conceal a tv over the banquette bench (should be about the right viewing height!). For others to help it might help to give more details. I assume from the plan that you have a separate living room so maybe sofas aren't the priority? It also looks as if you want a study area? What type of oven (and hob) and how many do you want? Do you want a sink or hob on the island? I'm assuming the log burner is to go in the existing chimney breast? Is the room to contain utilities? Do you want a microwave, wine fridge etc? I can see a concealed tv in your ideabook so assume that's on the list? Do you want a pantry/breakfast cabinet etc? How many is dining to seat? If you speak to someone like Karen they will ask lots more questions so as to design the space specifically for your family!...See MoreNew home - starting with kitchen renovation
Comments (6)Hi Sally, if you are on Instagram, have a look at our account @odcdoorglass, lots of inspiration there for kitchen extensions. You could indeed opt for glazed roof panels, like in this project here Or have a large roof lantern as featured in this kitchen below Large rooflights will be a more cost effective solution, such as these in this kitchen Hopefully this will have given you a few ideas! Best of luck with your project....See MoreStarting building works in the current climate
Comments (6)I have a colleague in Spain who was telling me this week, that he is getting quotes that are valid only for a week as the price of materials keeps increasing. This will be my first renovation and I really wouldn't know where to start in terms of sourcing materials myself (ok sure, I can pick out tiles and fixtures/fittings ... but not steel beams etc.) Thanks for the reassuring words though; agree that there's always uncertainty so you have to keep moving forward....See MoreNew kitchen - where to start?
Comments (3)It depends who you use and l would highly recommend using an independent company as opposed to the big sheds for a far better choice, price and customer service. Using an independent supplier will mean they normally have their own trades people who will carry out electrics, plumbing, flooring etc. The people they use are repeat ones so they will have had no problems with them in the past. They may include for all of that in their quotation or offer you the names and you can go direct. They will be familiar with the kitchen company so you can all work together timetable wise. If you already have some appliances then there is absolutely no need to re-buy them. It is a minefield of choice regarding kitchens especially on worktops with solid timber, granite, quartz, solid surface and laminate being some of those on offer. Each is priced differently so your choice may be down to budget. Kitchens are expensive so plan carefully according to your needs....See More- 9 years ago
