I don’t think you need the window in the kitchen but would likely have one that is planned for balance and ventilation. You don’t need a second one. I notice this has been lined up with the porch window but could equally have been taller like in the front living room .

Don’t forget that a quality kitchen supplier can add in lots of task lighting under cabinets and under shelves to ensure you have extra light when you need it, there is no need to litter the ceiling with lights too. If you do make the window taller don’t forget to make the cabinets taller. In fact go get another kitchen design that’s more inspiring than this one, remembering to put the oven in a safe position not where other contributors have suggested.

You might also revisit the large roof lantern, two separate lanterns rather than one large one makes more sense in a room with two separate areas for sitting and dining. You might also consider where electric lighting goes if much of the ceiling is glass.
