Walnut dining table?

I've only ever had reasonably priced oak tables which, although not spectacular, have served their purpose perfectly well. I now have a stunning open plan kitchen, and a large island with a built in walnut breakfast bar, so I was thinking of splashing out on a walnut dining table. How hard wearing are they, what should I be looking to spend? Any thoughts/ ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Or maybe I've a 3 and a 1yr old, perhaps I should stick with Ikea furniture for the next 16yrs

Comments (4)Habitat has walnut dining tables. Made.com has dark brown wood. Adventure in Furniture has walnut options too. There are loads of tables available on-line. I know because I looked at a gazillion websites searching for one for us! I think it could be hard to get the right shade of 'cream' with an on-line purchase. Might be easier to go with full timber table. Plus I think a dark wood table sounds like it would look nice and not too matchy-matchy. Comments (20)Hiya, I do like the gold/copper side tables :) but we have soooo many metallics going into the lounge/diner/kitchen that I just wanted something a little less gold in the spare room! ......... ..... Yes, the writing bureau is 100% going in the guest bedroom as that is where it will get used. It will be used for the laptop and paperwork, in a room with a sea view. Comments (41)It's a tough one, leather may be a safer option. What do you think of this rug with it, might also go nicely with the first rust stool I posted (the stool also comes with black legs)?
