Dining chairs - dilemma!

Hi,

I have recently bought this table and wanted to get the wishbone chairs or the gunk beetle chairs.

Do you think either of them would go? I am now having second thoughts :-(

I really love the wishbone chairs but think they could look a little cramped?! Help please!

Please ignore the rubbish around the table!

Hi there! You have lovely dining table. I think black spindle back dining chair will look nice.

Would a mixture of both be too out there? 2 wishbones at the table ends then the beetle in the middle?? I do think all wish bone might be too much as well.

Yeah I thought it might look a little odd... Gubi* not gunk! Haha!

Such a shame! Now I'm back to square one...

Hi. I'd go for a Roman blind, perhaps in a retro pattern. Do you have a corner to put a potted plant as that may also reduce some of the echo? If not consider a rug but see how it is after a fabric blind is fitted or you could also add a faux sheepskin over one of the chairs (any fabric should help!). Agree with Stephen and would continue the film posters. I might also paint the radiator in the wall colour and add a vase of good faux flowers on the table or even something simple like faux eucalyptus which you could add real roses to when wanted

Lucy, I like some of the 'feel ' of your room the way it currently is. It appears to have a (your) personality, with some of the quirky, playful choices of furniture ( f.e. your table). Ok, maybe it's a little stark and not quite finished, but it would be a shame to loose this, unless you actually want a showroom home :). I can't give any concrete advice but perhaps you can live with your home a while and get a feel for what you really want and what would fit your home and personality? Give it some time, rather than go for a complete overhaul in one go.

You have a similar kitchen to me so I understand your pain about lack of storage! Mine is galley style but even the units are similar. I have a small pantry which has a sharply sloping roof under the stairs, so not ideal but it holds a lot. I too have a sideboard which stores all my baking and “entertaining stuff”. I think you could fit in more storage where the table is. It could me more units or it could be a stand alone pantry unit. I think a navy or graphite grey one would look great or you could carry on with the white/cream of your current units. I think, and please don’t be offended, you have too much stuff out on the worktops which increases the feeling of clutter, sorry! Here’s some ideas of possible standalone storage. Even budget companies like Howdens are doing them.

Yes! I love those - was worried it might make the dining space look too casual, I have a lot of marble, brass and velvet running through the rest of the house.

Sorry I didn't check that, on the ones I am comparing it only looks like a 2 cm difference? Would that be a deal breaker? I love their classy shape and I thought it will give you the look you want but a lot more streamlined and less cluttered.

I think the Bentwood chairs are an inspired suggestion. The cross back of the chairs echoes the cross grain in the table top. I think it looks classy together and would not be casual.

You could add some beautiful candlestick/s for a bit of additional elegance. Or a velvet runner to pick up that theme from other rooms. Or a simple, elegant vase with a leafy stem.

Here's a picture of my table this morning. Love the Brent chairs just thought too casual I think it's difficult pairings different shades of wood together with my floor, I have a shaker style kitchen. The other option is these black chairs?

I only have the. Hairs there At the moment so I can eat they won't be staying...

I like your idea of the black chairs with cross hatched legs. It echoes up both the table legs and the table top. And it not only avoids trying to match the wood of the floor and table top, but breaks up all the wood.

What about this version which comes in black leather with some interesting stitching across the seat area. I think the leather would suit your decor better than moulded plastic, and this particular chair is a sensible price. They have the cross hatching that echoes the table, and the leather and black got with the vintage + industrial vibe of the table.

Funny, I just looked,at those Habitat chairs, but thought you’d find them too casual. I do like them. Or look at Westelm. They have some lovely chairs.

I just got this in my Facebook feed, looks similar to your table and I think the black cross hatched chairs would work really well, although I love the leather ones they have in this picture.

I’m having an extension done and in it, an industrial/ Victorian kitchen . I watched a renovation programme with George Clark and a couple taking part in the programme re done the kitchen with the most AMAZING industrial lights which were green ... I can’t find them anywhere ... can you ?

Thank you all for your ideas! I went with the habitat ones in the end... Now to make it look plush. I used the idea of the candle sticks....
