Comments (8)The yellow tones don’t do it for me- I think if you reduce the amount of wood showing by adding a stair carpet or by painting some or all of the wood then changing the wall colour the room will feel very different. I think the inspiration pictures posted in earlier comments show rooms that have more contrast so there are some dark elements as well as light- if you favour light and neutral decorating perhaps dark picture frames would be the solution for you. I also think this room is under decorated and needs pattern- a rug is the obvious solution. And given the room is light consider a large plant and useful furniture such as an umbrella stand or chair to put on shoes....See MoreDecorate home entrance
Comments (6)I like the mirrors, have one myself, but personally i think I’d go for a shelf over the radiator with a round mirror (maybe repeat the brass) and accessorise the shelf. It looks as if there’s a plug socket there, if so, I’d also add a skinny table lamp. Scumble Goosie also do a radiator console as an alternative to a shelf. We added radiator covers to our last house, which was a fairly new build, it was absolutely freezing! I can’t say for sure but assume a shelf/console would block a lot less heat. You could always consider painting the walls too to add colour, add a roman blind etc...See MoreEntryway is a staircase - help!
Comments (12)My hall and stairs are very similar in my 1930s house. What I would do for a wider hallway! I’ve kept it simple with a stripy carpet, although yours looks fine, and pale grey walls. You coukd go darker below the dado rail but it would darken everything up which I don’t think you want. I did that with a green shade and I found it so dinghy so painted over that! However, it looks like you have better light than me. I’ve put a coat rack in my tiny hall for just a couple of coats, otherwise it hinders the place even more. I have put a mirror and some art at the top of the stairs but not coming up the stairs as again you could end up brushing against them as you go up and down the stairs. I don’t think putting a scooter on a wall is particularly decorative and would just clutter up the space....See More- 8 years ago
