Can I make this work?!

I have bought a sideboard and drinks cabinet online and have just discovered that I can't return them... I really like them on their own but they aren't the colour I expected, they are grey but a much warmer grey than the more silver grey that is on my sofas and rug.

You can see curtains and sideboard in the pic, there is some warmth in the room from the curtains, which are ivory, gold with little bit silver in them

I am not finished decorating so still need to get lamps, artwork etc to finish it off, the current art is just sitting on top just now and this and the lamp might end up elsewhere.

Is there anyway I can neutralise the warmth in the sideboard to make this work?

I am planning to get new cushions but haven't got round to it yet, will this make a difference?

Really looking for positive responses because I can do nothing about this now and have nowhere else to put them!

Thanks a lot!

From the picture I think the sideboard looks the right depth of colour. The room looks good although I think you’re right it needs some colour accents. Tbh, the one thing I didn’t like was the throw. So the throw, some art maybe floor or table lamps with perhaps fabric shades and rugs are opportunities to take the room up a level in design. :)

Thanks so much for your response.

It's reassuring that you think the colour is okay, hopefully not just the photo but I will see if I can get one in better light.

I totally agree about the throw, it definitely doesn't fit.

I was going to go for ochre/yellow-gold cushions but I haven't found ones that I am happy with yet.

    Thanks again!

Thanks Carolina! You have both made me feel better about it, happy to ditch the throw! :)

Your sideboard colour is echoed in the tones of your upholstery. Lose the pale cream throw or find a darker faux fur. Lovely room

I forgot to say that I really like the design on the sideboard doors. Lovely piece. When I look at your room, I'm thinking roaring 1920's glamourous art deco, with a modern twist.

I also really like the furniture. If you do want to lighten it slightly consider having a piece of glass cut for the top.
Choose a colour that works or mirror and make sure it is safety glass too.

Slightly better light and no throw...

That's a really good idea Jonathan, thank you. Feeling much better about it now but a mirrored top could look amazing. Definitely something I will think about!

If you do use mirror don’t get silver as it will be too bling. Get grey or gold or possibly bronze mirror or an antiqued finish.
