I had my heart set on the Bertazzoni but people scared me away. Help! Recs with Thor, Verona, Kucht, Bluestar? I really want the range to be the centerpiece of my kitchen and am not a professional but don't want to drive myself crazy
Consumer reports is full of xxxp. They seem to only review the lower end of the market. I've strongly suspected they are on the take. I'm not the only one with this opinion. Throw out their reviews and start over. You will get good reviews here with a reasonable explanation as to how someone arrived at it.
As I said, function first. If you are an avid cook, you want to buy the best tool, not the prettiest. I have no experience with Bertazonni. So, I can't give you any advice. I have cooked extensively on Thermador, Wolf, Viking, LeCornue and BlueStar. My preference would depend upon the specific model. I really like BlueStar. I'm all about the burner shape. It's a very simple unit that is pretty simple if a repair is needed. Thermador would be my second choice if you get the models with the star-shaped burners. LeCornue is lovely, but really, really expensive. Wolf is good and has good service. Viking okay when it works. (I've got a Viking in this house. Fortunately, it's working.)
