Lights which automatically turn on when I enter a room (especially in the kitchen and in the hallway from the bedroom to the bathroom) and lights inside my wardrobes (especially inside the one in the bedroom: I often get up earlier than my hubby, and it may be still dark outside, and I don't want to wake him up while I'm looking for my stockings).

I have not looked into buying Ikea beds in the past as I don't like being restricted to their bed linen, although in the end I don't find much I like in the UK anyway and end up buying linen in Europe, the US or Australia. I had a look and yes, you are right ... last year (2014) Ikea started to stock the smaller UK imperial sized beds but you can still get the European metric ones online. My parents didn't waste anything by throwing them away, they were upcycled to something else, so not exactly hoarded. We belong to a throw-away society now as easy come, easy go and if you were brought up not to waste anything, it's very difficult throw anything out that is still useful just because there is a new model out. If I really need to throw something out, I offer it on Freecycle first, it's surprising how many people are looking for spares for something. I also try to upcycle what I can. I don't have cupboard space so hoarding space is also limited. I know I have far too many clothes from years ago but I don't approve of the way charities shops are run, I know a lot of good clothes get ragged. When I discovered just how much the charity shops waste whilst at the same time their profits are going to support management and so little going to the charity they are supposed to be collecting for, I stopped giving to them. I will support small local charities though where I know what is happening and what they are doing with anything donated. Landfill sites are filling up and we are sinking in our own 'throw-aways' but it won't stop us buying more than we need. Many items I have have been gifts so they are not hoarded, they are treasured.
