Timeless classic! You can never have enough marble, provided you keep the rest of the bathroom fittings minimalist and clear, i.e. more sleek stainless steal than fussy gold ornamental ones. The full on floor to ceiling marble bathrooms I have seen have kept all other items very simple so to enhance the marble as it's pretty imposing on it's own.

One either loves velvet or hates it, there isn't really a middle ground here. Colour and texture is everything - same piece in subtle, smooth tones can be absolutely spectacular, but change it to frenzy busy pattern in loud colours and you can end up with kitsch written all over it. It generally depends what you are aiming for and the room you want to use it in. I find velvet particularly good for classic and eclectic styles. Velvet, just like tweed is timeless and can really bring a design together or simply ruin in, so use it wisely "young Jedi's" ;) All being said, we love it!

Thank you for those links MATH! Cute lampshade, but yes agree a tad expensive for a holiday let. The clock is a bargain, I need to forget my own personal taste and just fill the space I guess. I like the clocks its just it seems everyone seems to have them! Ive seen lots I like but all over £100 plus - I have to be disciplined!!

Hello @OnePlan (Concept planners) and @Monica - thanks for the replies. Indeed we have a great opportunity to create a really nice indoor/outdoor flow to include entertaining in the courtyard patio. we have a fairly large garden, so the 'courtyard patio' can provide a hard standing next to the house from which we can enjoy the garden while eating and entertaining. Picture below shows the conservatory which is about to be replaced by the extension. Although I am happy with the design, I am still very concerned about the light; the new extension creates shadows on the patio and in the kitchen that were not a problem before. The garden faces south east, so the sun is largely in the left hand side of the picture.
