It's all about the colour of the render and front door. I would go for a dark paint on the render with a complimentary front door colour. Keep the windows white but think "Town House" look. The house is small so I'd go to the expense of using Farrow and Ball paint (often discounted at Bank Holiday time at the superstore beginning with H). Then improve the appearance of the windows by having window boxes, painted same colour as the render, filled with ever green plants such as a mix of Box and Ivy. We are going for the Town Smart Look here, and nothing can be more sad than a flower filled window box that needs attention. If you want an outside lantern then buy one that fits close to the wall like a "coach lamp" go for the most expensive that you can afford ideally in a galvanised grey colour. It will add considerable style to the property.

Hello chamomix7, Brass flat plate light fittings can be lovely and the brass dolly switch is a particular favourite... Forbes and Lomax are a fabulous source and at the high end market, I specify these to clients with larger budgets and in addition to the brass dolly switch, they do a transparent light switch. So if you have wallpaper you want to show off without interruption.. These are also lovely! They are pricey and the brass flat plate dolly switch can be bought from somewhere like Screwfix.. Do a bit of research and see what fits your budget. Bakelite is also fantastic finish for the dolly switch in a period home but less bling! :))

Clever lighting is a must for small spaces - for a fun element here commission a neon word or phrase and have some low level floor wash - all on dimmers - dimmer switches placed outside bathroom door.

Hi I'd definitely recommend spending a little extra and having the Brass sockets to match the Togle Light switches. I worked for a client in Norfolk, who had everything matching with togle switches too,(you can see pics on my projects page) and the difference between the standard white sockets to having the matching Brass, is undeniable, and makes the space looking 'finished' as apposed to maybe changing in future. Some prefer the more discrete look of a clear sockets or white socket on a light wall, but if there's budget, and you're drawing the eye already to the togle switch and I'm assuming you like the Brass colour in this room, why not add this with other sockets and accessories etc. Hope this helps!
