Carrara Quartz very visible seams, opinions needed!
Comments (9)Hi Georgie, this is what my step son in law Gary says: “I think there is a lot of light issues here. They look like two different shades of quartz but I don’t think they are. The issue is if you are not happy with the joint it means it is a bad joint. If it was done correctly it would be a butt joint with a max 1mm joint. This clearly is more than that. The resin used in the joint has mixed with the dust from the top and looks dirty. The only way forward is to cut the top of the joint with a grinder and refill with clean resin, remove the top and redo the edge. Hope this helps.” There’s nothing about stone that Gary doesn’t know, so I would trust his opinion. His business is Apex Grange and he has a base in Welwyn Garden City, Herts and in Kent if you want to check out his credentials. I so hope you can get this sorted....See MoreQuartz Counters and Backsplash

Although - as I understand it only certain quartz with a high price tag can be book matched. And you have to do what you are suggesting where you use more than one slab and the wastage adds to the cost. The image is of Dekton not quartz which may be an easier way of getting the result you want....See Morequartz worktop Join
Comments (37)Hello again! I have now had the new worktop fitted and I’m really pleased with it :). It looks how I thought it should and the join is where my hob will be fitted (hopefully this afternoon) so not noticeable at all. The seam looks more obvious in the photo than it does on the eye but in all honestly it’s fab! Thank you all for your comments and advice, appreciated x...See MoreQuartz worktop advice
Comments (9)It shouldn’t be the case that a l kitchen showroom supplies a Quartz at a higher price than a fabricator so if they are significantly different they are not like for like quotes…. Don’t forget that most worktop brands have several different price groups and generally speaking a more patterned Quartz costs more. Many of the worktop fabricators have their own ranges. Often these are not the same quality as a branded Quartz such as Silestone- often they are manufactured in China (which some people find undesirable), in my group of friends there is an opinion that the cheaper brands are softer and can mark. In some lower priced brands the pattern is just printed on top which means drainer grooves and cut edges would be plain and unpatterned. There may also be differences in their guarantees. And Lifestyle kitchens make a good point about wastage….. different fabricators have different policies. Generally they all have their favourite brands and are confident that they will use unused material- but if you choose something unusual they will likely skip the unused material but still charge for it....See More- 5 years ago
