Definitely had a glass shade. What your looking for is a replacement with a neck so the lip sits on top of the screws. @Heather sorry - missed your precious post above your image! Yes we have to get someone to make us a framework and the idea was the lights would come down the side of the extractor (hidden) and be strung through from the top of the frame over the seating area. Because the electrician has put them in a different section of the ceiling then we can’t do that anymore so that’s why we have the issue we have :0( They were honestly just useless! Bah. - Re my spider light. Well the one I have for the dining area is huge! LOL. It has 8 arms - all black and a large round ceiling rose (like 8” or something like that) Not very elegant. I did think about trying to stretch it across to the island BUT it’s on a separate switch so it means I would always have to have the main light and island one on at the same time if it did that :0( Had it over a week or so and it’s nice so not sure I can send it back now (plus it has bulbs in it so worried it might break) - I think I will just have to put something In and see what happens when the frame goes in. Hi, A couple of quick questions to keep in mind when looking for light fittings for this room. Do you have access to the ceiling over the room? If not then you may not be able to have more than one light fitting as without access you would have to take down the existing ceiling to run the wiring to any additional pendants, or have the cables surface mounted. The other thing that you would need to bear in mind when buying a new light fitting is that you will need to be able to get a strong enough fixing to hold it or any additional fittings in place. Your existing fitting is fairly small so may not have that solid a fixing, you could though potentially fit any new fixings to the existing timber trusses. It would be worth checking that if you do not already know before committing to buying a fitting. Also if you do buy a Sputnic type fitting such as the ones we have used below check first how many bulbs you will need as the cost of bulbs can quickly add up especially if you want them to be dimmable!
