Over the past couple of months, at about 10'ish every night, we have been getting hornets coming to our windows attracted by the lights.

The other night we had about 12 all buzzing around, moving from one window to the next (when there is a number of them it gives you the willies a bit!). So during the hot weather we had to close up all the windows by 10 o'clock and take care not to open the bedroom window at night, until the lights are off.

Luckily, we've been having our kitchen re-done so we haven't been entertaining, but I can imagine it would have been horrendous if we'd tried to sit out and eat.

My problem is, whilst I appreciate hornets are relatively docile compared to wasps and aren't as "touchy" as wasps, I don't want to be held as a prisoner of an evening by them. So we've decided that they really need to be "dealt with". Trouble is, we don't know where the nest is!

In the past when we've had wasps/hornet nests, we could easily see where they were, but these blessed things only seem to appear at night and we don't see any coming or going in the day. I'm worried that if we don't get it sorted by autumn, we may find some get in and hibernate in the house.

Any ideas how to locate the nest (short of put a GPS tracker on one LOL) ?
