Banquette seating and table
Comments (6)Hello, I would echo what @OnePlan (Concept planners) has mentioned. The soft seating area is probably better in the location that is shielded from the sun to protect against the glare on the TV. Also we find it's nicer to have the place you eat at near the natural light of the window. Any chance we get of looking at a plan from scratch we would always place the dining table near the full height bi-folds/windows. Comments (7)Hi Ros, I would have a think about how much extending/ changing layout would cost in all. If you only plan to be there for a few more years at the most then it may be worth considering the move sooner. However, if you are planning on staying and making some changes, open plan living is a fantastic option for a growing family. Opening the space between the dining and kitchen area would create a lovely big room with plenty of roaming space. Open plan living is also a very popular option these days so I don't necessarily think it will hamper any future sale with not having the two separate rooms. We have a large number of clients who want to knock walls down and extend to accommodate a more open plan layout and it's certainly an option that is increasing in popularity. Extending below the car part could be quite costly considering you may want to move in a few years time. Without actually looking at it, it's difficult to determine if it would be worthwhile. Comments (7)Banquettes are a great solution when you need to save space as you don't have to allow the extra space for pulling chairs back and forth. You can get them with legs so they are completely open underneath allowing you to move your feet under the seat....See MoreKitchen layout - Peninsula or Banquette? (Interactive 3D Renders)
Comments (10)My vote would be for option 1 but it’s all about personal preferences. I prefer my kitchen work area to be separated from people who are in the kitchen to socialise. So for me the peninsula layout is ideal (although I would move the hob to the side run as others have suggested. My kids refused to sit at our old kitchen island when it had a hob on it. They said they’d rather be splashed from a tap than from a hot pan) Also if it were my house I would also make the kitchen slightly more compact so the distance between the oven run and the peninsula was slightly smaller which would also slightly enlarge the dining zone (this is assuming the pillar could also be moved/reduced) But again thats completely my personal preference for a more compact kitchen triangle. Ultimately go with what makes you happy, you’re the one paying for it & living in it everyday....See MoreEllie
