Does anyone have a built in corner fireplace?

We are starting our renovations on Monday and I am still unsure what to do about our corner fireplace.... help, the builder will be here in 2 days!

I am keen to have a wood burner in the corner of our snug but would like built it. Something that looks like this:

I have an alcove on the back wall which will house the TV and shelving and extra wood for the burner.

Does anyone have any photos of a "built in" corner fireplace or inset wood burner in the corner of the room?

I have the width of 1100mm for the built in fireplace.

Our sitting room has a corner fireplace with log burner. It's how the house (Edwardian) was built. We had the log burner installed.
I'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow.

I once put a small old cast iron bath this size in a small cottage renovation that I did for myself. I loved it because I could lie comfortably without sliding down as my feet were propped against the end. It would fill up really quickly being so small and being cast iron meant that it would stay warm for quite a time. I got it from a reclamation yard. Personally I think that the L shaped baths go out of date really quickly and hate the feel of the plastic ones which squeak as you get out!

I think your fireplace is lovely and I love the warm honey tone of the bricks. Many fireplaces aren’t symmetrical, mine isn’t. I think it would be sacrilege to cover it up. Such a lovely cosy room. If you really hate it then you could remove the bricks and plaster the wall, or remove the bricks and put in a wooden fire surround and paint that. I like Ribena‘s idea - candles or even electrical lighting can create warmth, or maybe an electric faux log burner,.

Agree with Sarah. Another option might be to tile it with brick slips to even out the mishmash of brickwork that you have found. Any total rebuilds of this chimney surround are going to be very expensive. Log burner is your best option. At least now you can have a tall one they look much nicer as the fire is so much higher. Morso does beautiful examples.
