Ok I think I have found some colors to choose from. I was thinking this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/brinjal/colours/fcp-product/100222#) for wall 2 & 4 And this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/charleston-gray///fcp-product/100243) for wall 1 & 3 I then thought that might be too dark so I then moved to these colors: For wall 2 & 4 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:rfuhcJloRGIJ:www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/alexandriabeige+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) And for wall 1 & 3 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:kA8fz-8Evt4J:www.benjaminmoore.ca/en-ca/paint-color/snowonthemountain+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) Firstly do you agree on which walls hold the colors or do you think I should have contacting walls hold the colors i.e. Walls 1 & 2 the darker color and walls 3 & 4 the lighter. The sun comes through the window most of the day with it being a south facing window and in the morning sunrises on wall 4 and sets on wall 2. Secondly do you think I am on the right tracks with these colors and a similar carpet to what yoboseiyo suggested. Thanks again for any help -Gs

Lovely choices! It would be helpful to see the room that they will be going into so that we can see how they'll fit and what other furniture they'll be with. They way they are it comes ac Initially, my thought would be to get different pillows for the sofa that would coordinate with the chair to bring a bit more visual activity into the room and toss in your personality. Keep the pillows and try a pillow cover, cover them yourself or simply add pillows that are more you. i.e. a hot spot of color, a print from nature, etc. Or, just leave it without pillows and add a throw. Do you have a rug or carpet that you're currently working with? What direction do the windows look out? Do you have existing pieces of lighting, tables, chairs, etc that you'll be keeping that need to blend with the new?

Hi Julie. Is it is a modern country look you're after? This fabric from cabbages and roses may work. The background is detailed as blue but it looks a grey/blue to me which should work with your tiles and carpet which looks as if it's has a blue undertone and it also appears to have a rich cream in (hard to tell colours online sometimes!). I can't see the curtain pole but can it go any wider? I haven't found the best pic but a sisal rug with grey tones would add texture. Do you have a wall to place A floor standing mirror to bounce some light? Is the lamp a cloche? Can you add a faux succulent or something in it? I'd add a few more accessories on the sideboard, pic will follow, but try and create a triangle shape with the height. Then choose items which match in colour, shape, material etc. An ornament stood on a couple of books can look good and books add warmth. You may just want to add flowers on the table but a wicker log basket filled with dried or good faux hydrangea stood in a corner can look quite effective

Thank you for that. Funnily enough I had already sent for Cormar samples as this is the carpet that they are using in the showhouse where we have bought the house which we really like. The colour they have used is Cormar Cambrian Stone. We like this colour and would like to put this throughout the house but worried it won't go with the grey sofas. What do you think ? The sofas won't be arriving until we move in the house in about a months time. The problem I have is I seem to have a sort of 'colour blindness'. I don't mean I am colour blind but I don't have the talent for seeing if the colours go together unless the colour is an accent. am also going for an accent chair in the bay window but am looking at possibly a heather coloured tartan chair with a large footstool/coffee table in a toning colour with cushions with hints of lemon and purple in them. I was thinking of paying for a Laura Ashley interior designer to come in, not so much to buy all the furniture from there, but just to make sure I don't make a serious blunder on the carpet and accent chairs. It would just be a shame to make a mistake on the colour of the carpet.
