Comments (13)I would definitely wallpaper the cupboards judging by the styles and images that are influencing you. Maybe try a really dark colour over the tall shelving areas you can see, such as Annie Sloane's graphite (which I can vouch for as a good solution providing you let it cure properly, a min 24hours after waxing) before popping your stuff back in. Use the same paint on the outer edges of the cupboard fronts and frames, then take a bold, damask style wallpaper to finish the fronts, with some lovely antique handles. You could maybe use a little gilding wax just to lift the graphite a bit - a nice antique gold. You'd need to darken the work surface too. This sounds quite drastic, but I've done something similar myself (albeit it on a much smaller item). The colours are totally different here but hopefully it'll help you see what I mean. Comments (22)I love that purple brown. I’m decorating at the moment and have been using F&B mahogany which has purple tones but I’ve also been playing with very dark purple Pelt. Still not finished but when I put some stuff on those shelves (to make space elsewhere) I realised that so many colours look good against it. I’m liking the Tiffany blue and the orange in particular. But the picture that was originally posted of the purple brown is also lovely with just neutrals, very sophisticated I think?...See Morefurniture help!

Comments (13)Hi AB, looking at the pic, I'd say you need a tonne more storage to start off with. This will contain the mess and give you more space. I'm a messy person and though I'd love to be neat and tidy, for me it's more realistic to accept that I am inclined to make a mess, but to have somewhere to shut it all away, giving the illusion of minimal calm. It looks like you have enough space to double the size of your wardrobe. Having just installed IKEA pax wardrobes in my room I'm a big fan. You can customise the storage in them, and include laundry bags, a vanity unit and even bookshelves and charging points/a hair dryer, as well as clothes and shoe storage. It also looks like you study/work in your bedroom, so I'd set up a desk area that includes storage. If you get a new desk with integral storage you can start thinking about design, and gets something that fits with the look of your other furniture, to create a harmonious, atmosphere. If possible, I'd upgrade your desktop pc and monitor to a laptop, which will eliminate the wires. These days there's not much the right laptop can't do. More pics of the whole room would be helpful to advise on flooring, curtains and bedding....See More- 6 years ago
