A Yew dining table and chairs? There is a good chance that you could sell for a large amount, buy exactly what you want to replace them in your new look and have a tidy bit of money to spare. Not forced to be correct, but worth checking out first. I am a big fan of preserving, renovating and repurposing but when considering repurposing I do check this out first. Since the point of repurposing is meant to be to save money as well as reducing materials used in getting a new look, then the idea of selling them (thus not wasted) has to be looked at first. Once repurposed the process cannot be undone and the value of the item as an original is gone. Of course a lot of things are great for repurposing as they are not of a condition or design or material that others want in the current condition, so fine, modify to your heart's content - I do that too. For example I have some furniture made from pallets. I made armchairs and a coffee table from a type of polystyrene used to space large pipes during transport (I had to sell them as I got fed up of being pestered by someone who wanted them so badly). I also have a wooden chest that is 17th century - I wouldn't dream of altering that.

Hi Colourhappy, it is Purbeck Stone, which was chosen by our super interior designer (Gina from Create Perfect on here). She's teamed it with shadow white on the ceiling and Wimborne White on the woodwork. The base of the fireplace is in Ammonite. We think it looks beautiful- such a warm and contemporary grey. Excuse the state of the floorboards- they need a good clean as are covered in dust from all the rubbing down of the paintwork but here's another couple of pics now the second coat is on. There will also be a large rug under the sofas to break up the brown of floorboards and the sofas Just waiting to put up our new radiators and Best Heating yes of course I'll share some pics once the radiators go up tomorrow!

Hi I agree it is a bit big to be called a hallway, however, on either side of it I have a snug with lots of book shelves and my favourite books (first photo) and open fire and a sitting room again with an open fire. The kitchen is small and I have put an Ikea Island in the middle of it as a table would not fit, I also have a 'dining room' where our kitchen table lives, so we don't have much furniture left for our 'hallway'. My sofa is old and is going. But I leave the front big wood door open during the day and the glass porch door closed so I get light through this room, it is lovely in the morning, very bright and I would like to use it more. It just looks like a corridor at the moment. I also have a lovely easel which I would love to put in this area so I might be drawn to do some art. If you can match the bricks do and then paint the window frames. Man About The House painted his (I think) UPVC windows a lovely sage green which would brighten the whole thing. He has posted some pics somewhere- it looks really lovely. Hopefully he can advise. I’ve totally copied his idea and the new windows are arriving in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait to see the difference it’ll make to our tired exterior!
