Struggling with kitchen lighting, help please?
Comments (11)Hi. Can you just clarify what you mean by original? Do you mean a one off piece or an antique? What is your budget? I would probably go for something either vintage, industriał or victorian (is the table victorian??) in style then add accessories to mix the old and new such as a contemporary chair, old chopping board, antique copper pans, old scales, enamel storage etc. I know it sounds odd but people are also starting to use table lamps in kitchens ( some do look odd!), but until you can afford extra lighting this could be an option at the end of the counter and/or Tom's option of floor lamps. You could also look at a triple pendant which will give you more light or you can get the multiple ones that run off one fixture but I'm not that convinced for your room. Also a mirror over your radiator may help. Do you have any cabinet lighting? You can pick up the ones that I think just stick on from diy stores quite cheaply...See MoreSo torn Between kitchen colours! dark, light, both? help!
Comments (24)After having seen the style and look you like, although we spoke about dark cabinets initially, with the floor you have chosen which would compliment any style, how about considering a natural wood like worktop? If you would like a light, and airy look and feel to the kitchen, neutral coloured cabinets would suit the look of your kitchen, paired with a slightly darker splashback to add that luxe feel back to the kitchen. This combination of a darker splashback, with wood and then lighter cabinets would also work well with your accent gold bar stools in the first image you showed. Keeping the foundation of your kitchen balanced and adding accessories such as gold bar stools and some decorative elements to give it that sparkle and glint that you like! (featured here is our petrol blue splashback panel, however I feel our blueberry panel would also work really well with this combination)...See MoreColours to go with grey kitchen unit+ ceilijg lighting help

Comments (4)https://www.alconlighting.com/blog/residential-led-lighting/how-do-i-determine-how-many-led-lumens-i-need-for-a-space/ This article says that you need more light than you are planning- it suggests that a 12x9ft room needs 8 lights that give out 500 lumens of light (so a total of 4000 lumens). Those particular lights seemed to give very little light as many LED ceiling spotlights would generate about 500 lumens. You might also consider LED lights under the cabinets at plinth level https://www.manomano.co.uk/led-strip-kits-2549?model_id=68087270&referer_id=691675&msclkid=585b13edcc4b10e4c7477016db6fe9ef&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Bing Shopping_CPC_GB_B2C_test Top Products - pool control&utm_term=4576717170578729&utm_content=B - Mobile Ps I don’t think this link is clear but this light will need an additional LED driver too- but your electrician will know about that- and can offer ways to switch them on if it’s not easy to link them to the light switch. And the boiler tanks- I would get a tall kitchen cabinet that is 10cm wider than the appliance (as 10cm is the recommended extra space needed for servicing)...See More- 7 years ago
